Everyman Scenic Concept Design

This second century show is about the human relation to god and the misperceptions of christ and how we idolize false gods. I based my concept within the Byzantine Empire and created a blend of classical 2nd century architecture an contemporary scaffolding and working lights to bring the theme into a 21st century setting. The back wall (CYC) would be handprinted as a Byzantine mosaic with Emperor Justinian and Empress Theodora with Christ depicted above them (see CYC design elevation) to show the misconstrued notion of how the world sees virtue and god. This wall mural is inspired by the Hagia Sophia interior chapel.  The symmetry and linear feel to the design is thrown by a large early Christian arch that is at an angle to present the abstracted view humans have about virtue.
